With our team constantly working and moving around the globe, we often find and hear of great places to grab a bite to eat, or try an amazing local drink! We often share tips with each other, especially if someone’s already been for a holiday or a shoot – so we thought we’d share the growing list with you in case you’re in the vicinity.

Gomanaru Dolssambap, Daejeon, South Korea

“Next to Gongsanseong Fortress, try the amazing Duck barbeque, which is the speciality of the region. It’s eaten with a ton of incredible, exotic Banchan (side dishes), including winter vegetables, kimchi (of course), edible flowers in the salad, and some interesting (if you’re feeling daring) fermented fish – and ideally washed down with chestnut makgeolli (a milky Korean rice wine). I was visiting my daughter over there so she taught me the right way to eat barbeque and how to compile the bundles of food wrapped in lettuce. Such incredible flavours, and an amazing setting too.”

“Deconstructed chicken caesar salad. My parents’ Diamond wedding anniversary lunch, it was totally lovely and special on all fronts. Found by complete accident, which made it all that more special!”

“A cute little hideaway of a café – rustic, shabby chic, and overgrown. The food was always amazing and super healthy! It was opposite the little Airbnb we were staying in and it was completely my type of menu so I just wanted to try it all, including the raw vegan sweet treats. That said, my favourite meal was a roasted mushroom burrito!”

 

The Acorn, Vancouver, Canada

“Vegetarian / vegan restaurant I’ve been to for brunch and dinner. Dinner was amazing but I have to go with brunch as the winner. They have a dish called ‘Artichoke’ and it was one of those meals that when you finish eating you actually feel sad that it’s over… Vegan waffles with a fried artichoke on top with bourbon maple syrup and a mushroom gravy. It’s salty, savoury, sweet… and now I’m hungry! Oh and good coffee… Good coffee is key.”

 

Inakaya, Toyko, Japan

“Traditional Japanese Robatayaki restaurant and honestly, everything was amazing. The soft shell crab probably clinches it. The restaurant is as much about Japanese tradition as it is about food… almost a mix of theatre / entertainment & food! The table is one large U-shape, with all the food options displayed for you in the middle. The chefs sit at the top of the table and whatever you pick, they cook in front of you then serve to you across the table on these long paddles… An incredible atmosphere over dinner!”

Bouang Asian Eatery, Luang Prabang, Laos

“Cute café, in the city of Luang Prabang in the north of Laos; we just walked past it and it looked bright and colourful, and the menus were on the backs of trays and everything looked good – so we went in! I had a pink veggie burger, which was an incredible colour and bursting with fresh flavours! The lemon and chicken burger in a charcoal bun was also awesome. We went back to this place a LOT!”

 

Fishcamp on Broad Creek, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

“A laid-back Southern restaurant on the river. Amazing fresh local food, insanely beautiful location, southern hospitality. Try the fresh crab. Went there when visiting my mom in SC. Local knowledge is always a winner!”

 

Restaurant Story, London Bridge, London

“A fancy restaurant on London bridge. I had the tasting menu; each course was unique, interesting, and innovative. One of them was a beef dripping candle. So the dripping acts like the wax and as it melts you dip your bread etc. into the saucer. Genius (and fun). Each course is an adventure.”

 

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Hong Kong Island

“Try the grilled, freshly-caught king prawns. My husband is from Hong Kong and he spent a lot of time in the Yacht Club as a boy. For our 10th wedding anniversary, we took our children (then 9 and 5 years old) on a family holiday to Hong Kong with their Chinese Grandparents to introduce them to the Hong Kong lifestyle, culture & food. There was such a mouth-watering and delicious array of cuisine at RHKYC ranging from traditional Chinese through to British favourites, which we savoured while watching the sunset over Hong Kong harbour. A memory to be treasured!”

“A sushi restaurant that was recommended by a colleague. I wasn’t a huge fan of sushi before I went, but, after eating there I loved it. We just had a bit of everything, but it’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.”

 

Bluestone Lane Café, New York

“Go for Balthazar toast with heirloom cherry tomatoes, feta, sunflower sprouts, lemon tahini. There’s also the best avocado on toast with a poached egg. A place to network as well as get the best coffee, chilled vibe, beautiful, beachy décor (a feeling of escaping temporarily from the hectic streets of NY!)”

 

Cuile Mula Da Angelo, Dorgali, Sardinia, Italy

“This is a typical “Pinnetta” or “Cuile” where shepherds used to sleep. This guy Angelo, a shepherd himself, renewed it a bit and made it a place where you can taste the things he produces. After lunch, you can spend some time with the goats, the pigs and the donkeys. It’s just amazing.”
