In May 2012, Qatar began an incredible transformation with some of the most ambitious and prestigious infrastructure projects the world has ever seen. These projects are changing the face of Qatar as well as the lives of the people who will live there for generations to come.
The Lusail Expressway is part of this story. Over the past three years The Edge have been documenting this extraordinary project from dusty excavations, to rebar reinforcements, to tonnes of poured concrete and over five kilometres of new asphalt. Documentation has been by all means possible, from ground filming to photography, time lapse, hyper lapse and drone filming!
The ENR Global Best Projects Awards is a competition that rewards the best worldwide construction ventures. Judges look at projects in many markets and examine safety performance, innovations, challenges, and design & construction quality. The Lusail Expressway project was recently awarded Global Best Project in the ‘Road/Highway’ category and The Edge’s production team continues to keep track of its continued progress with a number of miniseries of documentaries coming soon.
