Essence of Qatar
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA)

Distinctly different and with a strong sense of creative artistry and cinematic musical immersion, the film reveals to the discerning traveller the ‘Essence of Qatar’ by capturing the country’s warmth of soul and spirit of vision.  Played on a wide range of channels and at venues all over the world, we also produced a series of 30- and 60-second TVCs.

Major film awards have been won at Cannes, New York, London, and Hamburg.

Since it was released, the film has received over 341,000 views on Facebook alone.

Delivering the Vision

Featuring interviews with the CEO of Qatargas, Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Minister for Energy & Industry Affairs, His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, the film draws on archive footage sophisticated kinetic graphics to illustrate the impressive numbers behind this growing company.

The primary audience were customers, VIPs, and visitors to the Qatargas production facilities at Ras Laffan. Beyond this, the film has been used to support presentations for potential customers around the world and shown on the Company website.

We needed to tell the story of how Qatargas has become the world’s leading supplier of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). As a relatively young company the film shows how Qatargas is a key supplier of energy to many countries around the world. This footage was then repurposed into a series of 30 and 60 seconds TVCs for screening on various Middle Eastern satellite channels.

We were commissioned to produce 6 films for the inauguration hosted by The Emir His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani. These were played on the world’s largest LCD screen and a specially designed 3-Dimensional ‘musion’ screen.

‘Flame’ is a stunningly visual flight of fancy which shows the power AKG- 2 provides illuminating the city, bringing the country to life, and ending with a strong representation of Qatar’s importance to the entire world in terms of supplying energy for the future.

Pride and Passion
Qatar Shell

The Pearl GTL project in Ras Laffan industrial city in Qatar was the largest project in the oil and gas industry; at its peak it had a workforce of over 50,000 on site at any one time.  Shell embarked on an HSSE journey that had never been attempted in the industry before – the goal was to work free of accidents and injuries.

Through the hard work of all those involved in the project, from construction contractors, to operators and engineers, Shell managed 77 million man hours on site without a ‘Loss Time Injury’.  This is a record in the Middle East for the construction sector as well for the oil and gas industry. It has created a fantastic legacy for the project, for Shell as a Global Company, but also for the State of Qatar. This film documents that story from a personal level, from perspective of contractors and the Shell Team, while exploring the business reasons behind the goal.

Brand Film
DP World

Our aim was to produce a short film that captures the essence of the new DP World brand.

Through personal and emotional storytelling as well as a powerful narration, the film illustrates how shipping has changed the world.

Japan 20th Anniversary

Edited together with a specially recorded professional voiceover and a piece of inspirational background music, we created the film with a deliberate and distinctly Japanese artistic look. We did this by devising an innovative graphic/animation style that used traditional Japanese painting and calligraphy to dramatic visual effect.

Primarily devised to bring to life the ’20 year timeline’ to mark the first ever delivery of LNG to Japan in 1997 via Al Zubarah, the timeline exists as a continuously-moving line to depict the incredible journey that Japan and Qatar have been on together since that day.

The on-screen animations are visually supplemented by a 1-day shoot with a Japanese artist, capturing shots of parchment paper, artist hands, paint mixing in water, brush strokes, key dates, abstract shots of tanker – all of which are cleverly integrated with our Qatargas live-action pictures, bringing the ’20 year journey’ timeline to life in a memorable manner.

EMRQ Research Film 2013
